survey course considers the historical foundation and current status of
informational privacy — the gathering, use and protection of information
about individuals held by third parties.
Topics and materials vary from semester to semester and are adjusted
according to current events and students’ interests.

courses introduce non-legally trained students to the basic substantive areas
of law, the workings of the U.S. legal system, legal methods, research
techniques and the process of legal education.

This
seminar examines a variety of free speech issues as applied to the Internet and new media
technologies. Discussion topics
include offensive speech, commercial speech and other forms of expression in
the global digital environment, accessing personal or proprietary information
in cyberspace and the tension between free speech and intellectual property
rights.

workplace. Topics include the use of personal information in hiring,
promoting and firing employees; use of personal information in awarding
